Remote Core Install (For SMB)
Time is a commodity that seems to be in short supply. If you have a LANDesk Management Suite product and just can’t seem to find the time to read through the install manuals, if you’re managing 500 computers or less NAI has just the solution. The remote core install. We’ll remote into your site via a secure network, and then install the core for you in 2 to 4 hours.
An example of tasks:
Prerequisites:
- Check install / prerequisites for core server operating system, server 2003 or 2008 R2
- Ensure the core server’s operating system patched and up to date?
- What database will be used? SQL 2005, SQL 2008, Oracle 10g, 11g
- Gather network information, IP address, Subnet, Gateway, DNS Servers, etc.
- Name the Core Server and Certificate
- Gather the domain credentials to be used with the Scheduler service and the Com+ Applications, AMP User account
Install the LANDesk Management Suite software
Enter the necessary information such as
- Database account, data and log size
- AMP credentials
- What drive will the software be installed on
- Organization name
- Certificate name
- Activate the LANDesk core server
Verify the core server installation and configure
- Check all Management Suite Services
- Configure the Scheduler Service
- Configure the Com+ Application Identities
- Add users to Role Based Administration
- Create a Software Distribution Package shared folder
Agent Deployment
- Using Unmanaged Device Discovery, discover devices on the network
- Create a Windows agent
- Deploy the Windows agent to two PCs
Management Suite Functionality Testing
- Remote Control two PCs
- Distribute the Software Distribution test package to two PCs
- Verify the Software and Hardware Inventory Information
- Check all logs for any anomalies
